Martin worked for John Laing Construction between 1980 and 1991 as a Chartered Civil Engineer. During his time at John Laing, Martin worked predominantly in construction management on various building and civil engineering projects both in the UK and internationally. He is one of only five people dual-qualified as a Chartered Civil Engineer and Solicitor.

He spent the early part of his legal career at Norton Rose where he gained experience in PFI and Project Finance. Martin joined LA in 2001 to head the Non-contentious Construction and PFI Unit. He has been involved with PFI procurement since 1995. Martin has worked on twelve PFI transactions (not all listed below) and has taken three PFI Projects to financial close including the Local Authority pathfinder PFI Project "the Bournemouth Millennium Library" and more recently the first integrated waste management PFI transaction in the UK.

He was also involved in advising on the New South Wales and Victoria governments’ PFI/PPP programmes. In the last three years the Construction and Project team has advised on PFI/PPP deals with a capital value of in excess of 1 billion pounds.

Bhalindra worked for Biggart Baillie LLP between 2004 and 2006. He qualified in January 2006. During his time at Biggarts, Bhalindra worked predominantly in corporate, projects and large-scale property deals.

He worked on the £394M South Lanarkshire Council - Secondary Schools Modernisation Programme PPP; helped advise on investigations on price-fixing for Transco/British Gas; and helped list two companies on AIM, Axeon Holdings plc and I-Mate Holdings plc.

Bhalindra then joined Dickson Minto’s leading private equity team working on MBOs, large-scale financings and insurance-brokerage acquisitions, with his main clients being based in Australia, Italy and the UK. Bhalindra joined LA in 2007 to work within the Commercial Group. His experience in private equity, public companies, projects and IP/IT has made up most of his practice. From June 2007, Bhalindra worked on largescale procurements for the Projects Team and began building his expertise in construction law. He was part of the team that achieved the successful bid for procurement of the next phase of works in the London Congestion Charge Zoning Scheme for TfL.

He has also recently acted for two of the lead sub-contractors on the largest defence PFI in the UK to date, the MOD’s FSTA Airtanker. He was part of the team that successfully completed the contract suite for the new Salisbury Law Courts and he is currently involved with advice on the build of the “Twin Sails” Bridge in Poole and the £50M Winterbourne Training Hotel in Bournemouth.
